Premere
Forms Inc, of Sioux Falls, S.D., has become the first North
American ICF manufacturer to distribute its building system
into Great Britain and Ireland. Its products will be distributed
by Polar Wall Systems, Ltd. a specialist building supplies
company based in Devon, England.
Allan Meendering, CEO of Premere Forms, states, "We are very
pleased and proud to make this announcement. For us, it represents
our first step into the overseas export marketplace, and we
hope to build on this and introduce our system into other
international markets around the world."
Polar Walls Managing Director, Alan Wheeler told how this
relationship came about. "Building systems in Europe need
to gain an Accredited Technical Certification in order to
be sold. Any product has to pass stringent standards in quality
assurance and undergo rigorous product testing. This requires
a lot of effort, about nine months of time and about $100,000
in costs. When making this upfront investment you have to
be very sure of the product and we spent a lot of time looking
at ICF systems in both North America and Europe. We decided
to go with Premere because their system fulfilled our shopping
list of reliability, simplicity, flexibility, quality of material,
and ease of use. We had heard of another ICF that had failed
its European testing due to inadequate concrete compaction
caused by the large size of the system's tie-web. Therefore
a low profile tie, that would not hinder compaction, was also
an important factor. Premere's system also benefits from its
lower transportation and storage costs.
British builders are probably even more conservative than
their American counterparts when it comes to changing their
methods of building, so we know this is going to be an uphill
struggle but we are confident that this is the product to
do it with"
